Grain boundary misorientation
It is convenient to categorize grain boundaries according to the extent of misorientation between the two grains. Low-angle grain boundaries (LAGB) or subgrain boundaries are those with a misorientation less than about 15 degrees. Generally speaking they are composed of an array of dislocations and their properties and structure are a function of the misorientation. In contrast the properties of high-angle grain boundaries, whose misorientation is greater than about 15 degree… WebApr 14, 2024 · The character of the grain boundaries was another microstructural parameter evaluated to study the deformation behaviour of the nanocomposites. Figure 6 shows the grain boundary maps and the grain boundary misorientation distribution for the samples of cold-rolled Al and Al/CNTs under different strains. In the grain boundary …

WebMar 13, 2024 · This grain has a very irregular shape, which results from the non-uniform migration velocity of different boundary segments. In Figure 2, the grain appears subdivided into several islands, but these sub-regions would certainly connect if the map was shifted along the third dimension.
WebJan 15, 2024 · These cracks in grain boundaries with high misorientation are probably created due to the incompatibility of deformation between adjacent grains, which is more likely to occur in small grains because the critical stress to nucleate twins or promote slip increases as the grain size decreases. WebApr 12, 2024 · Considering that multilayer graphene locates at copper grain boundaries, we believe that the graphene-lubrication effect proposed here could act like grain boundary sliding mechanism that cause relative movement and rotation of grains during deformation and usually lead to high SRS in UFG metals [49, 50]. However, such phenomenon …
