Grade 1: Mild swelling at the center of the kidney (pelvis) but no dilation in the chambers of the kidney (calyces). Grade 2: Mild swelling of the pelvis and the calyces. WebPyonephrosis develops in cases of hydronephrosis when the stagnant urine becomes infected from renal sepsis, associated calculi, instrumentation or haematogenous spread. In pyonephrosis the collecting system is usually markedly dilated but occasionally this may not be the case; thickening of the walls and contraction may be seen.
